Jessica Seal
Hi, I’m Jess, and my life is a delightful blend of iced coffee, dogs, and an ever-growing collection of Yeti cups. I’ve been happily married to my husband Mike for eight years, and together we share our home with our chihuahua, Paisley, and our shih tzu, Kensi. When I’m not diving into the latest competition reality shows or getting lost in a good book, you’ll probably find me binging a podcast.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Criminology and Sociology from Mount Saint Joseph University and my Master’s in Social Work from Northern Kentucky University. Since obtaining my LSW in 2017 and advancing to an LISW in 2023, I’ve had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings, including child welfare, forensic psychiatric hospitals, inpatient programs, and pediatric healthcare. I’m also on track to earn my LISW-S later this year, which will allow me to further expand my impact in the field.
My passion for social work began during an unexpected internship at the Legal Aid Society, where I quickly realized that helping others was my calling. Under the guidance of a mentor, I pursued a career that not only focuses on supporting individuals but also addresses systemic challenges that impact their lives.
As a clinician, my approach is client-centered and collaborative. I prioritize meeting clients where they are emotionally, fostering a non-judgmental, empowering environment where they can explore their feelings and experiences at their own pace. While I often encourage gentle challenges, I believe strongly in respecting my clients’ autonomy and individual journeys.
I specialize in working with children and young adults navigating anxiety, depression, and related challenges. With a background in DBT, RO-DBT, CBT, and ACT, I help clients build resilience, develop effective coping skills, and foster emotional growth. Whether through in-person sessions or telehealth, I strive to create a space where clients feel heard, valued, and supported as they take steps toward healing.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked across diverse settings that have shaped my practice in meaningful ways. From child welfare to forensic psychiatric hospitals, I’ve gained valuable experience in trauma-informed care, acute mental health treatment, and family-centered approaches. These experiences have given me a well-rounded perspective and a deep sense of empathy, allowing me to meet the unique needs of each client.
I am also deeply committed to ongoing professional development, regularly attending trainings and earning CEUs to stay current on best practices. I am currently working toward my LISW-S designation and plan to obtain Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) certification in the coming months.
In addition to my clinical work, I am involved in community initiatives focused on mental health awareness, including participation in suicide prevention efforts and mental health advocacy through Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. I am a proud member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and remain actively engaged in raising awareness about mental health in my local community.
